NATURAL & LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE
At Reese Douglas Diamonds, we believe that luxury is defined by choice, transparency, and beauty. Whether you are seeking a diamond formed by the earth over billions of years or one created through cutting-edge technology, we are here to ensure you find the perfect stone for your story.
-
Natural Diamonds (Mined)
The Timeless Miracle of Nature
Natural Diamonds are a testament to the power of time. Formed more than 100 miles below the Earth's surface between 1 to 3 billion years ago, these stones are brought to the surface through volcanic activity.
- Rarity: Every natural diamond is a unique "time capsule," making them the ultimate symbol of rare beauty.
- Value: Historically, natural diamonds have maintained a higher level of intrinsic value and market demand over time.
- The Reese Douglas Guarantee: Every natural diamond we offer is certified Conflict-Free and sourced in strict compliance with the Kimberley Process and United Nations resolutions.
-
Lab Grown Diamonds
Modern Innovation & Exceptional Beauty
Lab-Grown Diamonds (also known as Lab-Created or Man-Made) are physically, chemically, and optically identical to natural diamonds.
- How They are Made: Scientists replicate the high-pressure, high-heat environment of the Earth’s mantle using two primary methods: HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) or CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition).
- Visual Identity: To the naked eye—and even under a jeweler's loupe—it is impossible to tell a lab diamond from a natural one. Only specialized gemological equipment can distinguish between the two.
- Exceptional Value: Lab-grown diamonds generally cost significantly less than natural diamonds of the same quality, allowing you to maximize your budget for a larger stone or a higher grade of clarity and color.
Our Commitment to Transparency
In accordance with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines, Reese Douglas Diamonds provides full disclosure on the origin of every stone we sell.
- Certification: All our diamonds, regardless of origin, are accompanied by a Laboratory Grading Report from world-renowned institutions like the GIA or IGI.
- Standard of Care: Both natural and lab-grown diamonds are the hardest substances on Earth. However, both require regular maintenance. To protect your investment, we recommend a professional inspection of your setting every six months to ensure your prongs remain secure.
Which Diamond is Right for You?
The choice between natural and lab-grown is a personal one.
- Choose Natural if you value the rarity, history, and long-term traditional value of a stone created by the Earth.
- Choose Lab-Grown if you want a larger, higher-quality diamond at a more accessible price point without compromising on brilliance or durability.
